Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children       South Miami Heart Center

I selected the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation and the South Miami Heart Center at South Miami Hospital because they are a part of my life as both a PGA TOUR pro, and as a transplant recipient. The work and generosity of the Palmer family has had an effect on so many children in Florida, as well as my own family. The Palmers have been dear friends for many years and have given to so many, including me, endless love and support. This is why it’s very fitting to honor Mr. Palmer and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The Arnold Palmer Invitational was one of the first PGA TOUR events I ever received an exemption into, so I have seen both sides of this charity. Lots of kids at the Arnold Palmer Hospital are affected by the PGA and I wanted to be part of that spirit of giving, part of something bigger than me.

The South Miami Heart Center at South Miami Hospital is home to my cardiologist, Dr. Javier Jimenez. He saved my life in 2008 after my heart attack. This donation will support Dr. Jimenez’s research and the Advanced Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension Program. The research and work being done at South Miami Hospital is so important and has a real impact on the quality of life of those waiting for transplants. Supporting the South Miami Heart Center, in honor of Dr. Jimenez, is merely a small thank you for all of the support I received while I was also on the transplant waiting list.
